How I Stopped Being Lazy

Share

One of the biggest problems that most people face is laziness.

For your information, I am one of these people.

And I have been trying to look for a way out for some time now, but along the way, I still feel lazy and drop the quest of looking for a way out.

Before you read any further, I want you to know that this post is a true story of myself.

I am sharing this because I know that there are many people looking for a solution on this subject.

And this is the result of my findings on how to stop being lazy.

I have implemented many strategies in the past few months. The ones explained in this post really worked for me, and I know they will work for most people too.

How beautiful will your life be if you can achieve all the goals you set for yourself.

All the promises you have made to friends and relatives.

The honest truth is that most of us want to be successful in life but there is this thing that actually stands in our way when we are about to take those necessary daily actions that will make our dream a reality.

That thing that stands in your way and stops you from taking those actions day in day out, you can call it whatever you like, is only in your head.

Yes, you read it right. IT IS ONLY IN YOUR HEAD.

For the fact that it is in your head does not mean you can easily push it aside and do what you need to do.

I just want you to know that it does not exist in your outside world.

So, this gives you a point of focus when it comes to how to fight it.

Your head.

The first trick I use to overcome laziness might sound absurd but believe me, it works like magic.

The Magic Of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

It is simple and effective if you truly use it.

As I have said earlier, laziness is in our head. At least, that is where it starts.

So you need something to shift your focus from thinking about the ‘lazy feelings’ to actually starting the work.

That is where this trick comes in place.

By just counting down from 5 to 1. This shift the focus.

I usually use this when I am about to begin the work for the day and the ‘lazy demon’ shows up.

This demon starts from a simple thought– again from my head.

So I will just neglect the thought and say out loud, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and snap to the work.

This may sound simple but use it and see for yourself.

Let’s discuss the next trick.

You can combine all the tricks in this post to stop laziness is you wish.

Thinking Of The Reward

Let me shift your focus a bit.

Have you ever asked yourself why God created heaven and hell?

Why did He ask us to do some work and promise us beautiful and mind-boggling things if we do the work?

The promise is to make us do the work.

As human beings, we tend to be lazy and forgetful but we love good things.

So by constantly remembering the reward of work, we will feel more inclined to do it.

The same strategy used by God, laugh, is applicable to other aspects of our lives.

You just need to paint a vivid picture of the reward.

Is it getting a good grade? See your loved ones congratulating you on your success.

See your parents being happy due to your good grades.

Is it working hard so as to be financially free?

See yourself living exotic life, being happy and respected among your peers.

I hope you get the idea.

There is another reward apart from long-time rewards like the types I mentioned in 2 to 4 sentences above.

This one is a very short-term reward and it is very effective when fighting laziness.

I know you have a hobby. Or anything that you love to do.

Something that you can happily do for the whole day.

We all have such things.

Mine is playing video games with friends or when I am alone, playing Football Manager.

I can do this for years without standing up, laugh, only if hunger doesn’t kill me or I don’t fall asleep.

I am sure that you too have something like that.

These things can be a very time waster but you can put it to good use with a little creativity and self-control.

Set it as a reward when you work on your goals.

You can do something like: I will write 7 blog post and play FM 18 for 2 hours as the reward for the day.

Do this If you think you won’t be able to control yourself…

Tell a friend or relative to keep the game and give it to you at the end of the day if you show him/her the blog posts you have written.

I only used game and blog post as an example here. I am very sure that yours will be different.
