The Witcher UK studio resumes production
The United Kingdom had already announced the resumption of the film and television industry; now, according to Deadline, some of its biggest studios are returning to work, even though two of them are located in the main centres of the COVID-19 pandemic there. Studios Elstree and Twickenham have already announced on their websites that production has resumed, while the rest are preparing to do the same.
Among the most important studios in Arborfield, where The Witcher recordings take place. Production on the Netflix series was halted on the same day that actor Kristofer Hivju tested positive for the new coronavirus on March 16. Hivju, which was best known for his role as Tormund in Game of Thrones, is one of the casting news of the second season of The Witcher.
The Pinewood Studios Group, one of the most famous studios in the UK, was one of the complexes that did not close in Pinewood and Shepperton during the height of the pandemic, leaving its facilities at the disposal of major producers such as Disney and Netflix. Due to protocols developed for work during the pandemic, Pinewood Studios Group was one of the main groups to contribute to the list of health guidelines published by the British Film Commission.
Producer Jeremy Rainbird of Twickenham Studios said that “with the measures we’ve introduced, we think it’s the perfect place for people to restart several production workflows by accessing the site safely.”
